Health Protection Agency has stated that common illnesses are prevalent in the country in recent months, revealing that over 5,600 cases of diarrhoea had been reported in the last three weeks of January alone.
Statistics from February 11 to 31 shared by the HPA shows that reported cases of dengue, common cold and diarrhoea were on the rise.
Cases reported during this period include:
- 359 cases of dengue
- 21,993 cases of common cold
- 5,621 cases of diarrhoea
Due to the increase in common illnesses, hospitals and clinics in Male' and across the atolls are experiencing heavy demand.
Besides this, the air quality index in Maldives has deteriorated to unhealthy levels, leading to a rise in reported cases of respiratory illnesses, HPA said last month.
