The old Dharumavantha School building, which is on the plot where the new Majeedhiyya School building is to be constructed, has been demolished.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the construction of Majeedhiyya School's new building on the Dharumavantha School plot during the 2024 anniversary celebration of Majeedhiyya School.

The demolition work began in January and has now been completed and closed off.

A small section of the parking zone next to the Dharumavantha School plot is also included within the plot. And so, the area has been closed off along with the parking zone.

Dharumavantha School was opened in 2022 after the Majeedhiyya School plot was split. But due to the building being run down, some sheets from classrooms having fallen and cracks having formed, teaching was brought to a halt in 2016 in those classrooms.

At the time, the students who were being taught at the school were relocated to a temporary building near Velanaage. Their education took place for seven years in the tin building.

Initially, the new building for Dharumavantha School was to be built on the school's old grounds next to Majeedhiyya School. However, as the project was being delayed at the time, the previous administration awarded the project to SJ Construction in 2022, with the new building having been constructed in 2023 next to Villa College.

Dharumavantha School's new building has a 1,000-student capacity. The school currently has 1,457 students receiving an education. The school has 41 classrooms and is designed to teach 25 students per classroom.

The students are being taught within one session, with the number of students having increased due to the students from Izzudheen School being transferred to Dharumavantha School after Izzudheen School was shut down.
