Elections Commission (EC) has opened re-registration for this year’s local council elections and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.
In an announcement today, the EC said re-registration is open for voters living abroad and for those who wish to vote at a location other than their registered residential island. The re-registration window opened at 10:00am today and will remain open until 3:00 pm next Monday.
Only voters who are voting at a location different from where they voted in the last presidential election may apply during this period. However, voters currently registered to vote in a resort island, industrial island, prison, or abroad will automatically have their permanent address designated as their voting location for this election.
Voters can check their registration details via the Elections Commission website at www.elections.gov.mv or by sending an SMS in the format VR [space] ID number to 1414.
Re-registration can be completed online through the Elections Commission’s portal at https://form.elections.gov.mv. For further information, voters are advised to contact the EC hotline on 1414.
