Member of Parliament for South Hithadhoo constituency Ibrahim Nazil stated last night that the previous government fulfilled much of the infrastructural development required in Addu, and that the city is now in need of building a robust economy and establishing more revenue streams.
Nazil's comments came during last night's rally, which marked the launch of campaigns for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidates for Addu City Council in the upcoming Local Council Elections.
Nazil asserted that foundations laid during the previous MDP administration remain the same, adding that the current government will not work to facilitate 'money in pockets' of Addu residents.
"I am not seeing that happen. That is why I am saying let us all vote for these candidates. The most important work we can do for future elections is electing these councils and WECs today, and taking it where we want it," Nazil, who also serves as MDP's parliamentary group leader, stated.

Nazil stated that whatever has been done by governments for Addu was done during MDP-led administrations.
According to him, during the 2018-2023 administration, MDP got only three years to do significant work. He said that the people of Addu will bear witness to the work the then-MDP government had done for the city during those three years.
MDP's former Chairperson 'Reeko' Moosa Manik said at last night's rally that MDP always works closely with the people.
