RDC signs agreement with Chinese company to acquire heavy machinery

The Road Development Corporation (RDC) signed an agreement yesterday with a Chinese company to acquire heavy machinery.

RDC's social media post reads that to solve the difficulties they face in the acquisition of heavy machinery for Maldives' structural development projects, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has signed an important agreement under a special initiative.

The agreement was signed between the world's third biggest machinery manufacturer, Chinese company XCMG Machinery Dealer and Infrastructure Development Solutions (IDS).

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held in China.

Managing Director of both IDS and RDC Ibrahim Nazeem signed on behalf of RDC, with South Asian General Manager Tu Hui signing on behalf of XCMG.

RDC stated that XCMG Global Business Division's General Manager Zhai Kun and RDC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Nabeeh Afeef also attended the ceremony.

RDC went on to say that this "business corporation agreement" is an important transaction under RDC and IDS's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU0.

Under the agreement, RDC said that 230 machines, which will include asphalt machinery for road development, will be brought to Maldives.

As per RDC, a repair center and spare parts center in regards to the machines will be established in Maldives by XCMG and IDS under the agreement.

"With this project, there will be an acceleration of development in Maldives, along with a permanent solution for the obstacles that may be faced," said RDC.
