Speaker of the People's Majlis, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, stated today that the vision of the current 20th Parliament is to resolve any legal obstacles hindering the state from providing essential services to the public, emphasizing that the Majlis will always prioritize the progress of the people.

Speaking after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu concluded the delivery of the Presidential Address at the opening of the Parliament for this year, Speaker Abdul Raheem assured President Muizzu that the Majlis would remain steadfast alongside the Maldivian citizens and the government. He also expressed his gratitude to the Members of Parliament, noting that they are performing their duties with sincerity.

"The purpose of the 20th People's Majlis is to work tirelessly for the advancement, development, and stability of the Maldivian people. The 20th Parliament will always prioritize the Maldivian nation and its people, their progress, development, stability, and safety," the Speaker said.

He further mentioned that the upcoming year will be one of constructive and productive work by the Majlis, similar to the previous year, and expressed confidence that he would receive full cooperation from all members in these efforts.

As Abdul Raheem spoke in this manner, it is noted that the 20th Parliament, where the ruling PNC holds a supermajority, passed numerous bills submitted by the government last year. These included significant amendments to existing laws as well as the enactment of new legislation.
