Mohamed Ageel, former Financial Department Head of Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ageel is accused in the FAM corruption case of laundering funds originally provided by FIFA to FAM.

It has been reported that Ageel was arrested about a week ago, while he had been living in hiding in Bangkok. No further details have been obtained at this time.

Ageel has been charged with aiding money laundering by assisting former FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel in purchasing Amin Avenue apartments using misappropriated funds. Hearings in his case were suspended after he failed to appear.
