The Ministry of Tourism has invited interested parties to develop and operate tourist hotels in Haa Alifu Baarah and Shaviyani Funadhoo.
In an announcement issued last night, the ministry said a virtual information meeting for interested bidders will be held on the 23rd of next month. The deadline for submission of bids is set for the end of March.
According to the ministry, a 50-bed city hotel will be developed in each island.
For the Baarah project, 71,832 square metres of land have been allocated, while three hectares of land have been designated for the hotel development in Funadhoo. Both properties will be leased for a period of 50 years.
The required bid security is USD 150,000 (approximately MVR 2.3 million) for the Baarah project and USD 100,000 (approximately MVR 1.5 million) for the Funadhoo project.
The ministry said the city hotels must be completed within two years from the date of signing the lease agreement.
