Missing expat died in an 'incident' on January 26: Police

Although Police referred to the cause of Ameen Mia's death as an 'incident', they have not disclosed any further details as of yet.

After the expatriate reported missing from a work site in Thilafushi was found deceased, Police have said today that the 'incident which led to the man's death' occurred on January 26. 

After being reported missing since Monday, 24 year old Ameen Mia from Bangladesh was discovered dead yesterday while Police were conducting a search for him. 

Police said today in a message to the media Whatsapp group that investigations so far have confirmed that 'the incident which led to the man's death' has occurred on January 26.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ameen Mia may have been working at a garbage dumpsite when we was struck by the arm of an excavator, causing him to fall and become buried under a large volume of trash. 

Although Police referred to the cause of Ameen Mia's death as an 'incident', they have not disclosed any further details as of yet. Hence, it is so far unclear whether the death was accidental or deliberate. 

Police stated that they will provide more information as the investigation proceeds.
