Male' City Council stated that more than 12,600 complaints were issued due to waste being left on Male' roads.
The statistics from the council's Community Engagement Unit from 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025 were publicized today, with the most complaints from the public to the council being waste being left by the roadside.
While referencing waste management, the council said that they have looked into a total 12,652 issues regarding waste being thrown onto roads and vacant plots.
Other issues that have been reported:
- 8,557 issues requesting checking of mosques, grounds and parks.
- General safety issues: 1,133 issues regarding broken pavements, drains, paving bricks and asphalt.
- 1,131 issues regarding water leaks and falling droplets onto the road from roofs or gutters and air conditioning units.
The council said that in that timeframe, along with complaints regarding waste, going against general community standards, activities against the rules, going against business regulations, general complaints, general safety, general health, traffic and parking violations and environmental complaints were received.
The statistics show that the council has responded for 31,131 issues that have been submitted to them.
While 29,350 of those issues have been cleared, the council said that they have been followed up with 1,781 issues. Advisory's have been issued to 874 of the cases, with fines having been issued to 483 of them, as per the council.
