O'Level exams have commenced today for students who started Grade 10 in April last year.
The O'Level exams are being conducted in 267 centres, with 8,218 students sitting for IGCSE and SSC exams, the Education Ministry stated. This includes 21 centres in the Male' area, and 246 centres across the atolls.
The exams will continue from today until March 6, with the first paper being on Dhivehi.
This is the first batch of students sitting for their O'Level exams this year. Students who started Grade 10 this academic year will be sitting for their O'Level exams in October/November.
Last year, the government set four compulsory subjects for O'Level exams, with the government covering exam fees for these subjects. These four subjects are Dhivehi, Islam, English and Maths.
Maldivian students continue to achieve strong results in O'Level and A'Level exams, with the number of students in the Top 10 steadily rising and many earning notable success at international levels.
