The Finance Ministry has announced that they are seeking a company to upgrade the Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo Agriculture Center (HAC) under the "Design and Build" tender.

The ministry made the announcement yesterday, which reads that interested companies can now register for bid submissions in upgrading HAC from today until 23rd March.

The pre-bid meeting will be held on 10th February, with a registration fee of MVR 1,500 or USD 100 needed to submit bids, as per the announcement.

The HAC conducts agricultural research, training, identifying herbicides and pesticides that agree with Maldives' soil, fertilizing some plant species needed for Maldives and providing small plants.

The center also gives professional advice needed by farmers.

One of the requirements needed by companies that apply for the upgrade work is to be a construction company that has a yearly turnover of USD 2.5 million. Another requirement is the company should already have at least two projects they have completed privately, via a joint venture or under a sub-contract.

As per the announcement from the Finance Ministry, the financing for the project has been arranged by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Funding was arranged under a project designed to mitigate climate change damage and safeguard food supply.

The announcement also states that the project will move forward under the Environment Ministry.

Nevertheless, the Environment Ministry's media official stated that the ministry and the Agriculture Ministry will work collaboratively for the project.
