Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has reiterated his commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation for the benefit of India and Maldives.
The Prime Minister's remarks were made in a reply to an X post by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, extending greetings on india's Republic Day.
"Thank you, President Muizzu," Modi wrote in Dhivehi, the Maldivian language.
Expressing gratitude for the Republic Day wishes from President Muizzu, Modi extended warm wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the Maldivian people.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated in his greetings yesterday that India's Republic Day demonstrates the high priority the country accords to freedom, democracy, and good governance.
He expressed his hope for the further strengthening of bilateral relations in the future for the benefit and prosperity of the people of both nations.
According to the President's Office, in addition to the social media post, President Muizzu sent formal letters to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate India's 77th Republic Day.
In his letter to Prime Minister Modi, the President's Office noted that President Muizzu reflected with pride on the development achievements resulting from the relationship between the two nations.
In his letter to President Murmu, President Muizzu stated that the 60-year friendship between the Maldives and India is built upon a foundation of mutual trust, respect, and understanding between the two countries.
