President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appealed to students to become those who begin their days with Fajr prayers.

During today's ceremony of the newly built Shaheed Ali School at Hulhumale' Phase 2, the President said that students should become individuals who should regularly abide by the practices of Islam. He also appealed to students to pray in a timely manner.

"I strongly appeal to all beloved students to perform all five prayers. I ask all students of Maldives to build the determination to faithfully pray, wake up early and start their days with Fajr prayers," said the President.

President Muizzu called on all parents to be responsible in ensuring their children begin their days with Fajr prayers.

The President went on to say that the teachings of Islam were determined with a higher purpose and that it should not just remain in writing.

"Our faith tells us to practice daily," as was said by President Muizzu.

According to the President, schools should also have an order where students begin their day as stated, and where students should make the most of their days. He said that he applauds the fact that Shaheed Ali School has two prayer rooms. He also said that teachers are shaping classrooms so that prayers can also be done there.

"And so, all children should be attentive to prayer. They should obey their parents. They should listen to their teachers, walk the path stated by school heads in schools and in their educational lives," said President Muizzu.

He also stated that if students are shaped in such a manner, it would build an unshakeable foundation.

The Shaheed Ali School is the first school that has been built by the current government in the Male' region.

The contract for building the school was awarded to RCC in 2021, with the foundation for the practical work to begin being laid in December 2023.

The school will teach students from Grade 1 through Grade 10, with it having 54 classrooms capable of teaching 32 students per classroom.

The school has a 400-seat auditorium, library, computer laboratory, three chemistry laboratories, an indoor hall, an outdoor hall and three elevators with a 20-student capacity.
