First Lady Sajidha Mohamed stated last night that if councilors who do not cooperate with the government are elected in the upcoming Local Council Election, it is the citizens who will be affected.

While speaking at the ruling party PNC's opening ceremony of the South Maafannu campaign hub, the First Lady said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office with certain policies in order to serve the citizens.

She said that he continues to work tirelessly for the sake of and to serve citizens.

"It is imperative that we have councilors, Women's Development Committee (WDC) and Mayor who work together with the President for the sake of the citizens. What would happen if not?" as the First Lady said.

While highlighting that there would be no benefits in electing officials to such positions whose mindset is to not aid the government, the First Lady stated that if councilors who offer their assistance to the government are not elected, it would negatively affect citizens.

At a time when the government has to make tough decisions regarding vapes, faith and society, there would be no benefit to said decisions to the country if officials who oppose the government are elected to such positions, according to the First Lady.

"Having people who can directly aid the government will only benefit citizens," as was said by the First Lady.

And so, the First Lady requested that members of PNC be voted in for council members, the WDC and as Mayor during the upcoming Local Council Election on 4th April.

As per the First Lady, councilors are those who should work closely with the government in enforcing government policies. Having councilors who will bring the concerns of the public to the government will benefit the people as well, said the First Lady.
