Work on the Male'–Hulhumale' highway will begin tonight, police said.
In a post on social media today, police said the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) will begin refreshing traffic lane markings on the highway as part of efforts to improve road safety.
The work will be carried out daily from 12:00 am to 6:00 am until completion.
“Highway users are advised to be vigilant while the work is underway,” police said.
HDC is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the highway connecting Male', Hulhule' and Hulhumale'.
The highway has sustained significant wear, with railings on both sides oxidised and badly damaged, road markings on the tarmac largely faded, and airport perimeter fencing also severely damaged.
