Actor Naeem passes away at 71

Local actor Mohamed Naeem, known for his role in Maldivian movie 'Zulaikha', as well as Atolls Ministry presentations in the Office Teledrama competitions, has passed away at the age of 71. 

Mohamed Naeem, of M. Medhuma Palace, passed away last night. His funeral prayers will be held at the Aasahara Mosque after Dhuhr prayers today. 

In dramas, Naeem earned acclaim for his versatility, depicting both the stern, volatile father and the gentle, affectionate father with equal skill. 

One of the most popular productions he starred in was 'Zulaikha', featuring Yoosuf Shafeeu (Yooppe'), Sheela Najeeb and Mariyam Nisha in lead roles. In this, Naeem played the role of Yooppe's father. 

'Zulaikha', directed by Fathimath Nahula, won the Best Movie Award in the 2007 National Film Awards, with its actors receiving awards in various categories.
