Underage motorcyclist in Fuvahmulah road accident

A dangerous accident occurred in Fuvahmulah yesterday, where two motorcycles crashed.

Both the rider and passenger on one of the motorcycles, reported to have been speeding, were under the age of eighteen. 

Both sustained injuries in the accident. Police said that the two have been treated and discharged from the hospital. 

Footage showing the accident, which occurred in Malegan ward of Fuvahmulah, was circulated on social media. The footage shows a speeding motorcycle colliding with another motorcycle that had approached from the right and briefly paused before attempting a left turn. 

The speeding motorcycle struck the front wheel of the other vehicle, causing it to topple and throwing the rider on impact. 

Police said that they received reports of the accident at around 1:30pm yesterday. The matter is now under investigation.
