A total of 350 youth departed today for the second round of National Service. According to the MNDF website, 286 males and 64 females from 112 islands across the Maldives are participating in the three-month training program held at L. Maafilaafushi.
The objectives of the program include building citizens who will stand firm in national service during major threats and disasters, fostering the spirit of nationalism among Maldivian youth, and instilling the quality of working together in unity.
Additionally, one of the aims of the National Service is to produce productive and responsible individuals who are trained in good ethics, respect, and essential life skills.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the training of personnel for National Service during the official ceremony to mark Victory Day in November 2024.
Subsequently, the first batch concluded their training last December, and some of those participants have already departed for technical training in B. Kihaadhoo.
MNDF stated that upon completing the initial National Service training, participants will receive a Civic Education and Leadership Certificate, Community Volunteer Firefighter and Basic First Aid certificates, and a Level 3 certificate for completing the Peer Education Training program.
The government will provide an allowance of MVR 6,000 to each participant in the program; consequently, this will cost at least MVR 2.1 million per month.
