Autopsy conducted in relation to the death of a miscarried child

Police have stated that an autopsy has been conducted on a child as part of the investigation into a death following a miscarriage at a resort.

The case, involving a 27-year-old Maldivian woman who miscarried while pregnant at a resort in Vaavu Atoll, was reported to the police on December 26 last year.

Police had not previously provided further details regarding this case.

As there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the child's death, the police media official told "Mihaaru" that an autopsy was performed on the deceased child for investigative purposes while the case is being looked into.

However, the official noted that the final autopsy report has not been received so far.

It was also stated that the matter is being investigated further.
