The newly rebuilt Barubaree Mosque is set to be completed and reopened in time for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said in a Facebook post today that the mosque would open very soon and would be ready for prayers during Ramadan.
The previous Barubaree Mosque, located on Rahdhebai Magu, was demolished after Alisaafu was awarded the contract in December 2024 to construct a new three-storey mosque on the site.
According to the Islamic Ministry, the new building has a capacity of 830 people.
President Mohamed Muizzu has previously said that around 15 mosques in Male' and across the islands are expected to open ahead of Ramadan.
According to the Hijri calendar, the upcoming month of Ramadan is expected to begin on 18 February.
