Four people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and extorting money from an individual at an MPL apartment in Hulhumale' Phase 2, police said.
Officers searched the apartment under a court order and rescued the victim, who was taken to hospital before being handed over to family members.
Police identified those arrested as:
- Ali Sareeh Anwar, 23, Kulunu, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo
- Shuneen Anwar, 24, Bilaaluge, Seenu Hithadhoo
- Hussain Naahee Jamal, 23, Bluecorner, Seenu Hithadhoo
- Ahmed Lujain, 24, Huvanhumaavilla, Seenu Meedhoo
The four suspects were produced before the court for a remand hearing and were ordered to be held in custody for 15 days.
Police said no further details could be released as the investigation is ongoing.
