The Technical and Vocational Education Center (TVEC) that was established by Coastline Foundation in B. Kihaadhoo for free technical education has been closed down, with it being changed to a military center.

The Defense Ministry stated today that the first round of technical training for national service will be held at Kihadhoo's military center.

The ministry also said that upon the TVEC center being gifted to the government, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had designated it as a military training center.

The TVEC center was opened on 9th August 2018, with it offering courses such as diesel and petrol engine repair and maintenance, electrician courses and the repair of air conditioners and refrigerators.

Nevertheless, the center that ran on a 200,00 square foot plot and volunteers was closed in the middle of 2024.

A member of the island's council said that they had restarted training after it had been closed down due to Covid.

While a dormitory had been constructed for the youth who attended the center, the foundation had also been in charge of preparing meals.
