Man jailed for four months for stealing 127 mangoes

Criminal Court has sentenced Mohamed Naseer of G. Kanzudhoshuge to four months in prison for stealing mangoes from a house on Lily Magu, Male'.

Prosecution said Naseer stole a total of 127 mangoes from a tree on the property.

He pleaded guilty to the charges, and the court found him guilty based on his confession.

The prosecution asked for a reduced sentence due to his confession, but the court noted that his criminal record warranted a higher punishment.

Naseer had requested a lighter sentence.

However, the court sentenced him to the standard term of four months and 24 days in prison for the crime.
