The joint military exercises between the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Indian Army will commence on Friday in India.

According to Indian media, the exercise named “Ekuverin” will be conducted in Belgam in the state of Karnataka. The two week long bilateral exercise will focus on sharing and acquainting both armies with each other’s counter terrorism operation experiences.

India and the Maldives have held several joint military exercises, the latest of which was held in the island of Kahdhoo in Laamu atoll last December.

MNDF also held special training sessions with arms in the capital Male and its suburbs recently.
