Male' City Council has completed renovation of Galolhu City Park and reopened it to the public today.
The park is now equipped with a three-on-three basketball court, badminton court, outdoor gym, children's play area, and leisure area for people to relax in, the City Council said.
Male' Mayor Adam Azim wrote on X that Galolhu City Park, closed for a decade, was redesigned in 2024 and he is pleased to reopen it after renovation.
Azim noted that the park was designed with exercise areas, relaxation spaces, and event venues to cater to various public needs.

"One of my biggest targets during my time as Male' Mayor is to provide pleasant green spaces such as this as much as space permits, and to bring joy to the people," Azim said.
He called on park visitors to help preserve its beauty.
The City Park was closed for renovation in 2022. Although the council planned to renovate the park at the time, no work was done there. In April last year, the park's renovation was contracted to Haiman Construction Pvt Ltd.
Previous administrations, too, opened the park to the public with various alterations.
During the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen, a 'LED Park' was opened there to mark Maldives' 50 years of independence in 2015. However, this park was not maintained and soon fell into disrepair.
