Two Maldivians arrested With 23 bottles of liquor

According to police, the arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit on Saturday.

Two Maldivian men have been remanded in custody after police arrested four people in Male' for possession, use and trafficking of liquor.

Police said Criminal Court ordered 10 days of remand for the two suspects whose identities were released today:

  • Mohamed Naish, 43, G. Happyside
  • Ikram Abdul Rahman, 31, Handhaan, Laamu Hinnavaru

The other two individuals arrested in the case were released on conditions, police said.

According to police, the arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit on Saturday.

The suspects were stopped and searched in the Fishermen’s Park area of Malé, where officers recovered 23 bottles of liquor.
