The year's first official sitting of the parliament has been scheduled for February 5.
This will be the inaugural sitting of the first session of the third year of the 20th People's Majlis.
During this sitting, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will deliver his third Presidential Address.
Although the parliament session is scheduled to commence in the first week of February, it is believed that an extraordinary sitting may be convened prior to that.
The parliament, currently in recess, has held two extraordinary sittings, with a Constitutional amendment to merge the presidential and parliamentary elections submitted. The parliament aims to complete work on this amendment by January 15.
Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla has previously stated that an extraordinary sitting will be held once the committee review of the bill of amendments is completed.
