High Court Judge Hassan Shafeeu has been officially appointed today as the representative of the High Court to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
His appointment follows his selection by the High Court bench to serve on the commission responsible for overseeing judicial standards and disciplinary matters.
According to the JSC, Judge Shafeeu was appointed under Article 158 (c) of the Constitution, which mandates the inclusion of a High Court judge within the commission’s membership.
The Judicial Service Commission is a multi-sectoral body composed of the Speaker of the Parliament, a Supreme Court Justice, a High Court Judge, a Lower Court Judge, a Member of Parliament, a representative of the general public, the President of the Civil Service Commission, a presidential appointee, the Attorney General, and an elected representative from the legal profession.
Judge Shafeeu’s judicial career began on October 27, 2013, at the Family Court before he was elevated to the High Court bench on October 4, 2020.
An alumnus of the International Islamic University of Malaysia, he holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Law. His extensive background includes 14 years of experience in the legal field, during which he has served as a judge, contributed to the drafting of legislation, and worked as a lecturer in law.
