Popular TikTok star Amjad passes away suddenly

Ali Amjad, widely known as "Amju" on TikTok, passed away suddenly today at the age of 42. 

Originally from Sh. Foakaidhoo, Amju’s death was confirmed by Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), although the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

The incident occurred around 1:10 PM today. According to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Mihaaru News, Amju was found collapsed inside the wheelhouse of the "Securo" boat, where he worked as a captain. 

"He boarded the boat after it was loaded with goods, intending to depart for Malé. However, after he went on board, there was no sign of him. When the captain of a nearby boat went over to check, he found Amjad collapsed," explained a coworker who worked alongside him.

Coworkers immediately performed CPR while still on the boat and rushed him to IGMH in Malé. 

A close friend noted, "we brought Amju to Malé on the same boat he was found in. Even then, there wasn't much hope,".

Amju was a prominent figure on Maldivian TikTok, known for his active presence and humorous live sessions since the platform first gained popularity in the country. At the time of his passing, he was married to Habiba, another well-known personality in the TikTok community, and he is survived by a child from a previous marriage.
