Arrangements have now been made to facilitate night flights at all airports across the country.

In a post on X, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen announced that with the installation of the light system at Sh. Funadhoo Airport, all airports in Maldives are now ready to operate flights at nights.

At present, there are 13 domestic airports in the country, and five international airports.

Minister Ameen noted that introducing night-landing facilities at all airports is a key national target set by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at providing equitable access to basic transport services to all.

With airports now equipped for night operations, flight schedules can be better managed, and the issue of flight delays and cancellations will also be resolved, the ministry said, enhancing public trust in domestic air travel.

The ministry further said that with this, medical evacuations can also be carried out at any time now.
