National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that it is working to settle outstanding Aasandha bills owed to healthcare providers before the end of January.

During meetings held by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu with residents and small and medium enterprises, concerns were raised over delays in government payments to private healthcare providers delivering services under the Aasandha medical insurance scheme.

In a statement issued yesterday, NSPA said it has begun processing overdue bills as a response to the issues raised during the President’s consultations and based on public feedback.

NSPA confirmed that it is coordinating with the Ministry of Finance to ensure payments are completed by January 31.

The agency added that it is also working to address broader issues within the healthcare system and improve the delivery of Aasandha services.

Clinics seeking to provide Aasandha services were given time to submit applications until yesterday, and the service is expected to be fully available at clinics by January 31 next month.
