MVR 28.2 million allocated to 39 private media outlets

The MMBC said that the financial assistance will be allocated as agreed between the Youth Ministry and the Commission, with the funds expected to be disbursed before the end of the year, as the support is drawn from this year’s state budget.

Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC) has announced that MVR 28.2 million will be distributed to 39 registered private media outlets under the state budget financial assistance program.

A total of 41 media outlets qualified for the program, but only 39 completed the final stage of applications. The Commission stated that the list of disbursed amounts will be available on the Media App portal and that the information has been shared with the Youth Ministry.

Some of the allocations include:

  • Sangu Online: MVR 1.1 million
  • Sun Online: MVR 1.1 million
  • VNews: MVR 997,915
  • Ice TV: MVR 908,358
  • Dhivehi Channel: MVR 876,374
  • Mihaaru Online: MVR 793,214
  • Vaguthu Online: MVR 754,833
  • One Online: MVR 710,055
  • Dhauru Online: MVR 697,261
  • Corporate Maldives Magazine: MVR 690,864
  • The Edition: MVR 633,292

Two media outlets have not completed the required procedures but have requested the Youth Ministry to coordinate with the Finance Ministry to ensure they receive the allocated funds.
