Visit Maldives will stage a drone show accompanied by fireworks in Hulhumale' on Thursday night as part of New Year celebrations.
The event forms part of the Maldives Culture and Food Festival, a three-day programme organised to mark the start of the New Year.
Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Youth, Visit Maldives ceo Ibrahim Shiuree said the drone display would return this year, same as last year.
The drone show is scheduled to begin at 9.00 pm on Thursday. Shiuree said this year’s display would be more elaborate, featuring a “pyro drone show”, in which fireworks are integrated into the drone performance.
“This year’s show will be more colourful than last year,” he said. “As a first-of-its-kind feature, the drone display will include fireworks launched from drones.”
A separate fireworks display is scheduled for midnight to mark the arrival of the New Year.
Shiuree said the Maldives Culture and Food Festival was organised to celebrate the country’s achievements across various sectors.
The festival, which began on Wednesday evening, includes activities such as Ooredoo foam fun, a carnival, a haunted house, and food stalls offering a range of cuisines. It will run through to 1 January.
