Six expatriates arrested in Male' for possession of liquor

Six expatriates have been arrested in Male' on charges of possessing and consuming liquor, police said.

The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement units on Sunday. During the operation, police searched a café and a house in the Maafannu area, where 21 bottles of suspected liquor, each with a capacity of 500ml, were seized.

Police said the suspects include five Nepalese men and one Nepalese woman. They were identified as Chaudhary Srendra, 43; Suganda Kumar Chaudhary, 28; Chaudhary, 24; Makar Bahadhur Taman, 27; Bishwanath Chaudhary, 37; and Ramri Maya Vaiba.

The individuals have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation, police said.
