Vessels currently docked at Zone A of the North Harbour will temporarily use Jetty No 1, located in front of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has said.
The change comes as the second phase of a project to widen and modernize Boduthakurufaanu Magu in northern Male' gets under way. The works are scheduled to run for three months from the 8th of this month.
MPL said no fees will be charged for vessels using Jetty No 1 during the temporary arrangement.
Under the revised arrangements, vessels may enter and remain in the area with permission from the North Harbour.
Approaches to the quay wall will follow the existing Zone A queue order.
Vessels will be allowed to remain at the quay wall for a maximum of 10 days. Those wishing to stay longer must reapply and will be permitted to approach the quay wall again according to queue order.
MPL said the decision was taken to ensure fair and equal access to services for all vessels.
The company added that while changes will apply to Zone A operations, there will be no changes to procedures for vessels using Zones B and C of the North Harbour.
