High Court has reversed its earlier decision not to hear the case of Ali Nadeem (Milo Nadhama), who was arrested on allegations of large-scale drug trafficking in Addu City. The appeal hearing was held today.
Nadeem and others were arrested last month over alleged drug trafficking in Addu dating back to 2017, involving the circulation of millions of rufiyaa. His remand was extended to 30 days by the Hithadhoo court.
Nadeem had filed an appeal against the arrest warrant in High Court, which initially declined to accept the case. The court has now accepted it, and the hearing commenced today.
Under High Court regulations, if the registrar initially decides not to accept a case, the decision can be overturned by High Court's bench of judges.
The case is being heard by Chief Judge Abdulla Jameel Moosa, Judge Hassan Shafeeu, and Judge Ibrahim Mahir.
Before his arrest, Nadeem served as a senior political director in the Ministry of Sports.
