Operation closed 83 massage parlors this month: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced last night that 83 massage parlors have been shut down since 9th December as part of the government's increased focus in cracking down on prostitution rings being run out of such places.

During last night's community meeting with Hulhumale' Phase 1 residents at Rehendhi School, President Muizzu said that the operation aimed at massage parlors has seen 83 closures with this being the highest recorded number of massage parlors being closed in Maldives' history.

"From 9th December to 21st December, 83 massage parlors have been closed. Upon conducting a bit of research, I realized that the amount of closures now did not even reach half within Maldives' history," said President Muizzu during the community meeting.

As per President Muizzu, massage parlors have been searched and given warning notices, with steps having been taken as well. But he stated that those places had not been closed down.

The President said that some foreigners have been detained, with work being done to deport them.

President Muizzu went on to say that this work is being done so that Maldives can be made a "clean" place in every sense of the word.

President Muizzu went on to say that such positive results are being seen in a short amount of time due to the government acting quickly on citizen's opinions, with the government acknowledging the citizens' opinions and discussing with them moving forward so that more issues can be solved.

President Muizzu said that he sees the opinions of citizens regarding such community issues in a "very positive note". He also said that he will listen to every opinion from every person and that he will take the appropriate action.
