Sibling altercation at Hiyaa Flats leads to stabbing

A violent dispute between two siblings in the Hiyaa residential area of Hulhumalé Phase 2 left one man seriously injured today.

The incident occurred inside an apartment in Tower 8, where police were initially dispatched following reports of a loud disturbance.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a 38-year-old Maldivian male had been attacked with a sharp object during the altercation with his sibling.

The victim sustained serious injuries, with medical professionals reporting a deep laceration to his thigh that resulted in a severed main nerve. He was immediately rushed to Hulhumalé Hospital for emergency stabilization.

An official from the hospital confirmed to "Mihaaru News" that due to the severity of the injury, arrangements are currently being made to transfer the patient to ADK Hospital in Malé for urgent vascular surgery.

The hospital has not released further details regarding the patient's overall condition.

Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack to determine the sequence of events that led to the stabbing. As of now, the police are continuing their inquiries at the scene and have not yet confirmed any arrests related to the case.
