A dead body has been found near Male' Atoll Kandooma reef.

A police media official stated that they received a report at around 10:15 am, of an expatriate's body floating at sea.

While police are investigating the area, no other details have been given.

A dead body was reported to have been seen at sea to the police on Thursday as well, near Gulhi Falhu, police said. The police stated on Friday that the individual had fallen into the ocean while attempting to board a speedboat from a barge outside Hulhumale'.

As per the police, those on the speedboat attempted to rescue Cheng Jia, 38 from China, when they fell into the sea.

Even though they were visible initially, they disappeared beneath the waves, with this information being relayed to another speedboat within the area in attempts to find them, with the information being shared to the Coast Guard as well, said the police.

The Coast Guard had also worked to find the body at the time of the incident.
