Nepalese woman arrested in Male' with large amount of drugs

A 21 year old Nepalese woman has been arrested in Male' after police found a large quantity of drugs in her apartment, raising suspicion of drug trafficking.

According to a remand order issued by the Criminal Court, the suspect, identified as Nisha Raai, was taken into custody after officers discovered drugs weighing an amount considered consistent with trafficking.

The substances were reportedly in plain view, and equipment used to seal the drugs was also found at the scene, police told the court.

The court order also states that Raai’s urine tested positive for cannabis.

She was remanded in custody for five days after she requested legal representation.
