It has been made possible for those who give up their one-room flats from the government's former housing scheme to apply for the current government's housing scheme which offers three-room flats.
This change to the current government's Housing For All scheme was announced last night by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during the community meeting with Galolhu residents in Male' at Imaduddin School.
The public requested that those who give up their one-room flats be given the opportunity to apply to another housing scheme or plot during the Maafannu community meeting with the President on 5th December.
"A lot of people requested that those who received the one-room flats from the previous government be able to apply. We looked over it in great detail and came to a decision, and I spoke of this during the community meeting recently," said the President.

The current government's housing scheme is set to give away 7,500 housing units and 15,000 plots within the Male' region.
The conditions set by the current government for flats to be given to Male' residents are to be included in the Male' registry since birth, have their name be on the Male' resident's register or be registered to a Male' house.
10,000 of the 15,000 plots being given away by the current government will be given to Male' residents. 3,000 plots will be given away to those who have been living in Male' for an extended period of time, 1,500 flats under housing regulations for those who gave up their plots and 450 plots for those who were denied an inheritance after their mother passed.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated previously that he will think about whether to review the five-year condition regarding eligibility of plot schemes for Male' residents under the current government's housing policy.
