Malé City Council launched a comprehensive rat extermination campaign in
Malé today.
The City Council stated on its website that the campaign
was initiated to address the widespread inconvenience caused to the public due
to the high population of rats in Malé. The Council has received numerous
complaints from residents regarding this issue.
The campaign was officially inaugurated by Mayor
Adam Azim this morning during an event held in the area of the Local Market. The City Council confirmed that the activity will
be carried out in various areas of Malé over the coming days.
The operation is
being executed by Council staff, which will use rat poison placed in different
locations to eliminate the pests.
City Council staff will also be responsible for collecting the dead rats
from the areas where the poison was laid.
