Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim (Naifary), who spreads religious awareness and knowledge to the Maldivian citizens had requested aid from the International Aid Campaign (IAC) due to his declining health yesterday, with the initial funds having been gathered within 24 hours.
As per the association last night, the funds needed for Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim's current medical expenses were gathered within 24 hours and preparations have now been made to travel.
After the association met with the Sheikh and obtained information, the association stated that in light of said information, the first trip for Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim's eye issues and testing would have an estimated cost of USD 20,000 (MVR 308,400), with this accounting for helpers, food and accommodation.
And so, with a portal having been opened yesterday afternoon for donors to aid Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim, more than MVR 400,000 had been donated by this morning. The donations came from more than 1,300 individuals.
Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim has been ill for two to three years. He has been suffering from vision and function loss for years. He has also worked as a teacher at Madhrasathul Ifthithaah, with his vision deteriorating over time, leading to him having to stop teaching.
He has undergone an eye operation in 2019 and 2023 under doctor recommendations. However, the surgeries had no effect, with him proceeding to lose sight in both eyes.
Along with the loss of vision, he has experienced other medical issues, such as a bone tumor and heart problems.
After the IAC's visit to Naifaru last weekend to check on the Sheikh's health, IAC's Ahmed Iqbal stated that the association wants to give Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim quality medical treatment from a place that can offer as such. And so, the association has created a portal by the name of "Edhiha" to aid him.
With the Sheikh having to stop teaching, the IAC stated even though he had written many religious books, his vision loss caused him to stop everything he had been doing, which led to a halt in his revenue streams.
As per the IAC, the Sheikh has a child he has to care for, with him only receiving disability allowance from the government, with his family and those who are kind enough to aid him doing so.
Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim, who studied at Madinah, has written books for various sectors as well, such as Hisnul-Muslim, Khithabu’shiyam, Nabee Beykalunge Tharika, Thauheedhuge Khulaasaa and Khithabu’salaath.
