National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has revealed that MVR 12.3 million was spent in November on therapeutic treatments for persons with disabilities.
November statistics published by the agency indicate that the highest expenditure was on behaviour therapy, at MVR 3.5 million. This is closely followed by occupational therapy, with MVR 3.4 million. Third on the list is speech therapy, for which MVR 3.2 million was spent on 267 patients.
The lowest spending was on early intervention, with MVR 9000.
Therapy treatments issued under NSPA coverage last month are behaviour therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, early intervention therapy, psychotherapy, educational therapy and physiotherapy.
As per the records, a total of 359 patients received therapeutic treatment under State coverage last month, of which 342 are under the age of 18. The highest percentage of patients were male, with 252 patients. This trend was held in the under 18 age category as well, with 243 male patients.
As of the end of November, 14,398 persons are listed on the register of persons with disabilities. This includes 5,050 persons below the age of 18, 7,613 persons between the ages of 18 and 64, and 2,275 persons above the age of 65.
This list also has a majority of males, with the number at 8,669 out of the total 14,298 persons.
