A mobile phone seized by police for investigative purposes has been returned to its owner after the individual filed a case seeking its release.
Police had seized the phone on October 21 for use in an investigation and held it for 10 days. However, the device was not returned after the custody period ended, nor was the period of seizure extended.
As a result, the phone’s owner filed an application at the Criminal Court last Wednesday requesting that the device be returned. Police handed over the phone on the same day the case was filed.
Following the return of the phone, the court has dismissed the case after the claimant requested that the case be withdrawn.
