Male' City Mayor Adam Azim, who is in a bid for re-election, has stated last night that he is not someone who will flee the arena and let down members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and that he will remain dedicated to service.
Azim, who is campaigning for the MDP mayoral ticket for next year's Local Council Elections, said in his campaign rally in Hulhumale' last night that if the team running for Male' City member seats with him is elected, a happy future for Male' residents will be delivered. He asserted that they are running for Male' City council seats as a team to ensure that no seats go to any other political party.

"We are working to win all seats for MDP. I assure you that we will work to win all the seats, all my efforts, all my time will be dedicated to MDP members," he said.
In the MDP primaries, Adam Azim is competing against former parliamentarian for Central Henveiru constituency Ali Azim.
Adam Azim made some indirect comments criticizing Ali Azim during last night's rally.
Adam Azim asserted that he is not someone who will flee after members elect him to a position. He was referring to Ali Azim having left MDP to join breakaway party The Democrats during the rift that occurred between former presidents Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Mohamed Nasheed.

"When elected by MDP members, this Adam Azim is rooted, anchored here. I cannot be shaken. When this party gives me a position, especially one in which I can serve the public, I will not flee," he said.
Ali Azim previously alleged that the pledge to conduct an audit of Male' City Council and take action against any persons involved in corruption has not been fulfilled.
Adam Azim responded to this, stating that a number of such cases have already been forwarded to the Anti Corruption Commission and Police for investigation.
