Ministry unveils easy reporting of prisoner scam calls

Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has introduced a means of easy reporting of scam calls from prisoners. 

In a statement today, the ministry noted an increase in illegal calls originating from prison. To address this, they have introduced a simple mechanism for reporting such scam calls. 

Scam calls from prisons can now be reported through the Correctional Services website via the OneGov.mv platform. 

Millions of rufiya are extorted from individuals through scam calls each year. Only in a limited number of cases are the stolen funds recovered by authorities. Police have also previously introduced various ways for easy reporting of such scam calls.
