Ahmed Shakeeb (Shakeybe) has been
appointed today as the Managing Director (MD) of the Public Service Media
(PSM).
The Privatization and
Corporatization Board announced that Shakeeb, who has a long history as a
presenter for Television Maldives (TVM), was appointed today to lead the
state-owned media company.
Shakeeb's appointment follows the
resignation of the previous MD, Ibrahim Nasreen, on November 29th. Shakeeb is
the fourth MD to be appointed to PSM under the current administration,
succeeding Zeena Zahir, Mohamed Saeed, and Nasreen.
Shakeeb, who most recently hosted
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's special podcast show, is renowned for presenting
several major TVM shows, including Thiyabeyfulhun ge Furusaathu, Ehaarai
Mihaaru, Ehandhaanugai, Heyyanbo, and Dhivehiraajjeyge
Enme Aligadha Thari.
He spent the majority of his
professional career in the education sector, primarily at the Department of
Public Examination (DPE), where he served as the Director General. He was later
transferred to the National Institute of Education (NIE) before retiring from
the education sector in July last year.
Shakeeb began his service in the education
sector in 1985 and went on to hold various senior positions. He dedicated 35
years and seven months to the education sector, during which he also worked
concurrently as a presenter for TVM.
