Two men arrested last week in connection with a major drug operation in Addu City have had their remand extended.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, led to the arrest of five individuals:

  • Ali Nadheem, 30, S. Hithadhoo, Konmuli
  • Hafiz Fauzee, 31, S. Hithadhoo, Falaah
  • Ibrahim Siraj, 43, S. Hithadhoo, Veyofeheburuge
  • Hassan Alfaaf, 28, S. Hithadhoo, Dhorufothimaage
  • Ameen Mohamed, 23, S. Hithadhoo, Kekurimaage

Nadheem, Fauzee and Siraj were remanded for 30 days, while Alfaaf and Ameen, initially given five-day remands, had their custody extended to 15 days yesterday.

Police said they have been investigating the five individuals, part of a group known as “Milo Group”, since March on suspicion of drug trafficking and money laundering.

The network is alleged to have been involved in drug trade in Addu City since 2017.

Authorities added that over the past five years, more than MVR 19 million had been circulated through the accounts of four members of the group in Hithadhoo.
